Astrology For Beginners

When most people hear the word ‘astrology’, they think about their daily horoscopes, in the newspaper; however, there is much more to astrology than this. The horoscopes that you read in your newspaper are generic horoscopes, based on transits and trends for your sun sign, which is the sign the sun was in when you were born. This is why, sometimes, these horoscopes don’t reflect what is going on for you as an individual as they apply to all people of the same sun sign.

If you want to get a more in-depth and accurate astrology forecast, it is worth finding out what sign your ascendant was in when you were born. This is more commonly known as your ‘Rising Sign’. This is the sign that was rising as you were born. A lot of astrologers believe that the rising sign, gives a more accurate forecast than a person’s sun sign.

If you want to delve even deeper, you can find out what your moon sign is. You can then read your sun, moon and rising sign in your daily newspaper and this will give you a much more accurate reading of your own circumstances.

Horoscopes are just one part of astrology. Another popular form of astrology is natal astrology. This is when you get your birth chart drawn up by an astrologer. Your birth chart shows you which planets were in which signs, when you were born. It also gives you details of any conjunctions or other planetary alignments, present at your time of birth that may have an influence on your life today. Natal astrology is a good way to find out why you have chosen certain paths in life. It shows your character and can even highlight areas of difficulty, such as problems with parental figures and so on. It is very interesting and can be useful as a personality tool.
