Drop back into some of your own childhood memories, and you’ll see that you were practising mindfulness as well. Remember lying stretched out on the lawn on a warm summer day? Remember noticing how each slow, deep breath drew in smells of cut grass and the delicate perfume of flowers? Remember how you had the knack to pick up on the faintest sounds, such as the drone of a bee in the foliage, the crinkle of each blade of grass under your feet, or a mower being used in the distance? You were once an expert at being present, and you can be once again.

As the old dies a new way of being will shine forth, you have to let go of what was, so that new growth can come through. You cannot become the true you while you cling to the past. You must learn from every mistake, and every disappointment, do not take anything personally, for that will only bring dark clouds near. A new life is waiting for you, if you listen wisely to the call of your heart. The sun will rise once more if you learn to see beyond what you were once taught.
Not everyone has had the good fortune to have had good teachers and good parents as they grew up. Everyone has learned from those around them, and if the influences were poor so would be the ability to understand this life properly. It is no shame to have had poor teachers, in fact the poorest teachers can often be the best teachers, if you learn to be discerning, for within their contradictions, there is always a grain of truth to be found. If nothing else they teach how not to be.

Over the last week or so, the word ‘Duality’ has come up in different media forms and also in books I have read. Because this word kept ‘popping’ up, it made me think. I thought, what does this word mean to me. So I decided to write about it and this is where my thoughts took me. I’d like to share them with you.
Duality, to me represents division, or an inner pull in two directions. This can be taken as a contradiction within our natures or personality. For example a spiritual aspect or facet of the personality, pulling against a more pleasure loving in its base form, or materialistic aspect of the personality. This pull between the esoteric mind with its higher spiritual aspirations and the desire for more physical gratification, often presents itself as a dilemma for someone who seriously wishes to follow a spiritual path, believing that they must be of either one or the other mind set.
You must learn to see hardship differently. As they say you cannot make an omelet without breaking a few eggs. So what makes you think that you will become wise unless you pass through the trials and tribulations of life.
You might not care for becoming wise, you might just want peace and calm in your life, yet you have to start somewhere to change what has gone wrong. You need to become stronger not weaker. You need to bend with life like the blade of grass. There is no need to become hard and heartless, this will just bring you more sorrow.
When we are drawn in spite of ourselves to follow a path, a direction, a sequence of events unfold, flow with an ease that is unparalleled. Try as we might that course cannot be averted, like a stream trying to find its way to the sea. It cannot be stopped, we can try to divert it even stem it, but it will inevitably revert back to its true course.
Can this be the growth of the spirit, can this be the alchemical fire, a spore of celestial life gifted to us human beings by our creator. We souls swell and expand creating a almost combustible reaction, Soul, Spirit and humanity, there joining no accident. This union, merging was agreed to and arranged long ago. A momentous occasion, rejoiced in heaven but can be a very difficult rite of passage for those involved.
You talk of tiredness as a matter of importance. It is to you and many other people on this planet. How can one go about their daily chores when they are feeling tired, how can they best be themselves, when this tiredness controls their bodies.
Take a look at yourself for a start, and cast out of your life anything you are overdoing, that is unneeded. The way to complete any task with the least effort, is to work at a steady pace. Does a tree and it’s branches and leaves grow overnight, every spring. No it takes weeks and months to grow, to its full size and elegance, moving at a steady and even pace of growth.
