Understanding The Heart

The heart is synonymous with everything to do with love, as soon as you think of a heart shape, your first thoughts are about love. When your heart starts pounding while you are in the company of someone you are attracted to, your mind more than likely will be filled with thoughts of love. That powerful four letter word has a habit of taking control of your whole being not just your heart. Love has the power to make some walk through fire to find happiness, yet the downside can keep another person in bed all day, too depressed to wake to their aching heart.

Love can bring as much misery as it does happiness, it truly is a two sided coin. Heads you win, tails you fail. It does seem a lottery for many who flip their coin hoping to find happiness, yet sadly many do not see the face of their beloved or soulmate showing up, on the first few flips of the coin.

Affirmations Of The Heart

Affirmations are positive statements that we usually write in the present tense. An example of an affirmation would be ‘I am getting stronger every day’. The reason we write affirmations is to start to retrain our subconscious so that, by repeating the affirmations several times per day, we start to believe that the affirmations are true and, eventually, we will start to change so that the affirmation does become true for us in reality.

Affirmations of the heart can be described as positive statements we create to help us achieve our dreams – those things closest to our hearts! It can also refer to affirmations we create to help us find love or romance. Either way, they should follow the rules that we use for positive affirmations, in general.

Love Without Conditions

Love, an emotion and state of being, that can lift people up to the heights of physical and emotional ecstasy. It is also capable of plunging them into the depths of despair. Particularly when things go wrong or love is not reciprocated. Whether we acknowledge it or not, for many love is rarely given, without an expectation of receiving ‘something’ in return.  I believe that the root of discontent lies within these expectations, and is often the cause of disappointment in love; And this is why I believe that true happiness and inner contentment can only be found through loving without conditions or expectations.

To create the right conditions for this to occur. You must first learn to love yourself. To like and respect yourself for who you are. To feel comfortable in your own skin. To not rely on other people to fulfil you or to make your life complete. For anything that we cling to that is exterior to us, is transient. It is not so much that we will lose what we love. Though there is always that possibility. But because if we define or judge ourselves on the basis of those exterior experiences; on how successful or fulfilling they are. Then we base those feelings of self worth on perception and not reality. Something that could be taken away from us in any moment. Self love, is the only thing that remains when everything around us is changing.

Soulmates

When we think of Soulmates, we most likely think about romance. Some people go through life searching for that perfect person who will make them feel complete. They discard anybody who doesn’t fit this description and believe there is only one perfect person out there for them. One story about soulmates describes how a person was separated into two halves and scattered far apart. Both halves then spent the rest of their lives trying to find their other half.

Although this sounds nice, in principle; if these people never find their soulmate, they can end up lonely and miserable. It may be true that there is one perfect person out there but the world is a huge place and it is disheartening to think that one may never find true love.

The 12 Illuminations

The Spirit asked me to write out 12 intentions for daily living. These are beliefs, ideologies and attitudes which you intend to exhibit each and every day.

Many people ask me ‘what do you believe in?’ or ‘what do you teach?’. Both of these imply some sort of rigid system, and that spirituality is somewhat likened to religion. It’s not.

Spirituality at its core is all about freedom. The freedom to be able to connect, understand and express your soul’s true spiritual nature. With this in mind, read the Illuminations below and take note of their practical usefulness. Spirituality should make sense, it should be relatively easy to apply and most importantly: it should feel resonant with your own heart.

It’s important you remember these are not commandments as a commandment inevitably becomes hard, resistant and incapable of change. These are illuminations which allows for your personal adaption, investigation and eventual evolution.

Wisdom Of The Heart

How many times have you heard the saying, ‘ don’t let your heart rule your head’? A lot of people today think that it is better to make decisions using your head. Some people don’t understand intuition, or gut feeling, and believe that the mind is superior to the heart. It is true that the mind does have a lot of power over our lives; however, the heart can be just as powerful.

If you are a Christian, you will be familiar with the Bible and it’s message that love is one of the most important things in life. It teaches us to treat others as we wish to be treated, to love one another and to forgive those who have wronged us. All of these things relate to our hearts, not our minds. Our minds may help us to navigate through life, but our hearts are the ones in control. When you make a decision, do you do it because it will help you to think better or to improve your intelligence? Not usually, I would suspect. Most people make decisions because they want to feel happier and our hearts know what really makes us happy.

Some people argue that the heart and the soul are either one and the same, or are connected in some way. Others believe the soul lies somewhere in the brain. As we are spiritual beings living in a physical body, we can argue that the heart and the brain are both physical organs that have nothing to do with our spirituality, as we won’t need our bodies when we go to the Spirit World; however, as the soul is pure energy that lives on after death, then we can argue that the soul is a loving energy that resonates with the heart.
